Too Many Ideas, Not Enough Clarity

Having enough good ideas was never my problem in business. It's probably not yours either. The brilliant, deeply creative, and overqualified folks I work with usually don't struggle with ideas. If anything, they have too many.

Too many projects they want to start.

Too many problems they feel they need to fix.

And not enough clarity on what to focus on first.

"I should revamp my website."

“I should post more content to get my work out there.”

“I should go to more networking events to market myself.”

“I should start my newsletter and grow my email list.”

Maybe if I had one more hour…a little more energy…I could push through and get everything done.

I know this feeling because I've been there. Jumping from task to task, juggling a million unfinished to-dos, tabs constantly open in my brain, trying to be as productive as possible…yet never feeling like I was making real progress.

Or worse, the weight of all the things left me in freeze mode, paralyzed by overwhelm, unsure of where to even begin.

I started sacrificing sleep and running on fumes, trying to do it all. Pushed through exhaustion. Told myself I just needed to work harder. Until I burned out. And the worst part was the results weren't even worth it.

I was stretched too thin, frustrated, and frustrated for feeling frustrated. I was stuck in a cycle of doing all the things but not satisfied with the results.

Sound familiar? Here's what I've learned… There will always be problems to solve. Always more ideas.

The key isn't doing everything. To fix every problem or chase every idea.

It's knowing which problems to solve right now and which ones to leave broken for now.

Because if you’re prioritizing everything, you’re not actually prioritizing anything. 👀

But if you're an eldest daughter, first-gen, or used to being a high-achiever, (hi, I see you), this can feel so hard. If you grew up equating over-delivering with being worthy, leaving something undone can feel like failure.

Glass Balls vs Rubber Balls

Not all tasks are created equal.

  • Some things, if left undone, can shatter and cause an injury (glass ball).

  • Others, if dropped, will bounce back (rubber ball).

We are always juggling. Many of us moms know this.

Some balls are glass. Some are rubber.

We gotta know which balls are safe to drop in this moment, so that we can keep the glass ball from falling.

What makes it extra tricky is that some balls that are rubber in one season might be glass in another.

That's why knowing your priorities for this season is everything.

For example, if your focus is…

  • Growing your business to become financially viable
    → Prioritize revenue-generating work

  • Building your business that gives you more time and flexibility
→ Prioritize simple, sustainable, easeful systems

  • Finally taking action to book out your services as a coach, consultant, healer, speaker, or entrepreneur
→ Prioritize building an aligned support system (whether it's a coach, mentor, or guide) that helps you take messy action, iterate, and feel safe enough to keep going, with accountability

And you can do this in a way that honors YOUR unique gifts, expression, and capacity.

Knowing your why for this season helps you discern what actually needs your attention, and what can let go of for now.

Because otherwise, you might find yourself procrastinating on the real next step (because it's scary or uncomfortable) and filling your time with busy work instead.
